Message Boards and Chat Rooms
Talk to others who are, or who have been, affected by PNI. We offer two message boards and a chat room.
- PNI Message Board, for people affected by any sort of perinatal illness: postnatal depression, birth trauma, antenatal depression, puerperal psychosis, etc.
- MOM Message Board, for mothers who are recovering and want to keep in touch.
- Chat Rooms, for anyone who is, or has been, affected by PNI.
What's the Difference between a Message Board and a Chat Room?
- Things you post on the message board remain there for months before being archived. The things you type when chatting remain only a few days.
- You can conduct a conversation via a message board without all participants being on-line at the same time.
- The chat room has the option to talk to people in private in real-time.
How do I the Use the Message Boards
- Go to http://www.pni-uk.com/messages/ or http://www.pni-uk.com/MOM/ and register. You will be sent an e-mail asking you to confirm your registration by clicking a link.
- After confirming your registration, log on.
- To reply to a message click the post reply button. To create a new message topic click the new topic button.
- For more help on using a message board click its FAQ link (towards the top of the message board page).
How do I use the Chatroom?
This is a place where you can chat with other members of the site in real-time. What this actually means is that you type a message in the "chat room", other people logged on can see your message and type one back. All the messages scroll down the page.
Messages that you type generally appear instantly to everybody who is in that chat room. However, if you wish you can take part in private conversation or private chat rooms. (See the tutorial for details how.)
To use the chat room
- Go to http://www.pni-uk.com/chatroom/ and click the Register link. Register with the same username and password as you use for the message boards
- In the chatroom page, choose a room to chat in (from the "Make Your Choice" drop-down list choose "Everyone's room" for example) then click the chat button.
- If you want to speak privately to a moderator let her know, and she will create a private room for the two of you to chat.
- For more help on using the chat rooms see the tutorial.
