Home-Start
Home-Start is a voluntary home visiting scheme offering friendship, support and practical help to families who have at least one child under the age of five. The support is given "by parents to parents".
Home-Start North West Leicestershire offers the home visiting support and also a weekly support group MIMS for Mums who have postnatal illness. At present this group is available for families living within Measham, Ashby and Ibstock area of North West Leicestershire.
The group is facilitated by a Home-Start organiser, midwife and Health Visitor each week. To enable Mums to dedicate one and a half hours to themselves there is a cré for all children.
Feedback from group attendees has been very positive with comments such as "...it helped lift the fog", "...it made me realise I wasn't alone and that helped me tremendously", "The group is friendly, confidential, honest, frightening, the facilitators approachable, warm and caring which helps make it safe".
